This is a Howto to Configure BCM4318 Airforce Wireless cards in Debian Etch.

NOTE: Run lspci and look for the line "Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4318 [AirForce One 54g] 802.11g Wireless LAN Controller (rev 02)". If this is not there then this how to is not for you.

Step1: Update your Kernel to 2.6.17-2-686 which could be done using Desktop->Administration->Update Manager

Step2: Install bcm43xx-fwcutter from the .deb package obtained from http://packages.debian.org/unstable/utils/bcm43xx-fwcutter.
# dpkg -i bcm43xx-fwcutter_20060501-5_i386.deb

Step3: Use this driver with preference to any other:
http://boredklink.googlepages.com/wl_apsta.o
if this fails, your could use any of these:
* Copy the driver from the CD that came with the Card
* Copy it over from your windows partition if you have access to it, it will be located here: /Windows/System32/Drivers/bcmwl5.sys
* Obtain it from here -http://sidulus.textdrive.com/bcmwl5sys.zip
* Get any driver for your card of any date from their website - use this if initially you are not successful first time try some newer/older drivers

Step4: Extract your Cards firmware from the driver
Open a terminal and type the following:
# bcm43xx-fwcutter -w /lib/firmware ~/Desktop/wl_apsta.o
The above should populate a lot of files (bcm*) in your /lib/firmware directory.

Step5: Go to Desptop->Administration->Networking and give the parameters required for eth1 wireless card which should be automatically detected if you are using Kerlnel version 2.6.17-2-686.

Step6: Reboot your machine and Enjoy using wireless :)
