So after a long time (4 months) I ve started working with my favourite disto again! Yeah its Debian now, but this time its "etch" and not "sarge". I tried Ubuntu Dapper Drake in the intermediate time. The primary reason which kept me away from Debian these days is my laptop HP Compaq nx6110 which had a Broadcom bcm4318 card which did not have any free drivers and firmware. Hence I was desparately searching for a solution to get my wireless card working, since both in office and home I have wireless connectivity.

At last today I figured out how to configure the wireless card, of course in Debian etch.

On October 24th, 2006 we had the new release of Firefox ie., version 2.0 Release Candidate (RC) 3. I have Ubuntu Dapper Drake in my laptop and wanted to update my firefox to the new version. I found the installation of firefox is somewhat tricky because it does not have the usual way of configure/make/make install cycle. There was also another happy news today that Ubuntu's latest release Edgy (6.10) is out which has all the latest softwares including Firefox2.0. But I was not in a position to update my Dapper to Edgy today, but I decided to get Firefox2 in my Dapper and this is how I did it with the help of the following script which I obtained from Ubuntu forum:

Recently I installed Ubuntu Dapper Drake in my laptop and started to use it as I do with my Debian system. But still I ve learnt how to configure wireless cards in GNU/Linux so I ll try to get my favourite distro Debian GNU/Linux in my laptop.

I use xmms to listen to music and I ve installed it in my Ubuntu box. But unfortunately I have a lot of .wma files. So I wanted to get wma support in my xmms. For the above I did the following.

sudo apt-get install alien
sudo alien xmms-wma-1.0.5-1.i386.rpm
sudo dpkg -i xmms-wma_1.0.5-2_i386.deb

Yesterday was one of the memorable days in my life, because I attended a function in Trilogy where I enjoyed to the core. There was a group which performed Dollu Kunitha at the top floor of Salarpuria Infinity (This is were Trilogy office is situated). Yesterday Sap called us ie., Prabhu, Ekanth (all of them are my roomamtes) and myself to attend this function and we went there at 7:30 pm though Ekanth came only at 9:30 pm. Everybody was in their ethnic wear, except a few, including myself, Prabhu and Ekanth. I was wearing my company T-shirt which had "SpikeSource India" text at my left chest, and a dark blue cotton jean with my brown shoes.

The blog subdomain in is changed to I had some problem in my subdomain after enabling clean URLs in my drupal configuration. Today I analysed it carefully and identified that the way in which the blog links are referred in Drupal will conflict with the subdomains created by my hosting provider. So due this issue I have to choose a different name for my blog subdomain and I landed here with This solves my problem and makes my blog link in the left side menu to be seen without expanding the categories :) which I wanted to do long back.

There is a new link "Articles" added to, where I ll post articles authored by me. These articles are based on the stuff which I read and study when I find some time. There are some articles which are nothing but some notes which I ve prepared for taking seminars.

I ve also added a subdomain for articles namely

Wait and watch for more articles authored by me :) (I ll try to follow the KISS principle).
