I attended Ubuntu Developer Summit (UDS) last week in Copenhagen, Denmark. This is the first time I was attending such an event.

One of the best things happened was my interaction with Mark Shuttleworth during UDS. A picture talks a lot than words :)

Mepco FOSS WorkshopYesterday ie., 30 September 2010, I conducted a workshop at Mepco Schlenk Engineering College, Sivakasi which was organized by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering exclusively for Faculty from various engineering colleges in and around Sivakasi. In the morning I gave a talk and hands on in Subversion Version Control System and in the afternoon I handled Python Programming which was also a hands on workshop. 

We had a total of 35 faculty members from various colleges. The session was interactive and also I was amazed to see everyone eagerly trying out  stuff which I taught.

Last weekend ie., 25 September 2010, myself along with Mr. Joe Steeve conducted a one day workshop on Free Software Technologies at Kalasalingam University, Srivilliputhur which was organized by TIFAC-CORE in network engineering and Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University.

OSI Days 2010 talkI was one of the speakers at OSI Days 2010. It was a 3 days event from 19th to 21st September, 2010 organized in Chennai Trade Centre and is one of the biggest open source event conducted every year in India. Though I have given many talks in many conferences, this is subtly different from whatever I ve done so far.

The audience for the event was extremely extraordinary. They know what to ask!

I participated as a panel member on 19th September, 2010 in a panel discussion on the topic "The Rapidly growing market for FOSS in India". This panel had elite people from the IT industry with whom I had a chance to network and discuss lot of things about FOSS. The panel included the following people:

Velalar Python workshopLast weekend ie., 18 July 2010 from 09:45 to 12:45 HRS IST, I conducted "Basics of Python Programming" workshop in Velalar College of Engineering and Technology, Thindal, Erode which was organized by Free Software Foundation, TamilNadu chapter. I explained basics of python programming language and the advantages of using python over other languages, with some code demo.

We had audience from various colleges in and around Erode. The session was interactive and I enjoyed a lot with the questions from the audience.

Thanks to Ravi Jaya and others who gave me an opportunity to conduct this workshop. It was great to meet LinuXpert Systems CEO Mr. Baskar, with whom I discussed a lot about Free Software usage in education. My special thanks to the Head of IT department at Velalar College who was present throughout all the sessions and interacting with the speakers with his great questions.

gnunify 2010 stylesen talkThis was my first gnuNify experience. To describe, I would say it was "simply awesome". I could meet many people in the conference and had a great time there. I attended many talks from different speakers which was really useful.
